Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Contextory ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Software.

Product Description

Contextory is a local-first work memory application that runs entirely on your device. The Software tracks application usage, allows you to capture notes with context, and optionally provides AI-powered features when local AI tools are installed separately. All data processing and storage occurs locally on your device.

License and Use

Subject to these terms, UN8 Tech Pty Ltd grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install, and use Contextory for personal or commercial purposes. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Software
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
  • Distribute, sublicense, or sell the Software without permission

Local-First Nature and User Responsibility

Contextory is designed to run entirely locally on your device. As a local-first application, you are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your device and operating system
  • Backing up your data if you wish to preserve it
  • Ensuring your device meets the minimum system requirements
  • Managing and securing access to any local AI tools (such as Ollama) that you choose to install separately

UN8 Tech Pty Ltd is not responsible for data loss, corruption, or unauthorized access resulting from device security issues, operating system vulnerabilities, or user error.

Warranty Disclaimer

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE.UN8 Tech Pty Ltd DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UN8 Tech Pty Ltd SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

In jurisdictions where such limitations are not permitted, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent allowed by applicable law.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Contextory:

  • For any unlawful purpose or in violation of any laws or regulations
  • To infringe upon the rights of others, including intellectual property rights
  • To transmit harmful code, viruses, or malware
  • In any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Software
  • To monitor or track others without their consent

Updates and Changes

UN8 Tech Pty Ltd may release updates, modifications, or new versions of Contextory from time to time. You are not obligated to install updates, though some features may require the latest version. These Terms of Service may be updated periodically, and continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Termination

You may stop using Contextory at any time by uninstalling the Software. UN8 Tech Pty Ltdreserves the right to discontinue the Software or terminate your access at any time, though this is unlikely for a local-first application. Upon termination, your license to use the Software ends, and you should uninstall it from your device.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the Software shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
